“(The Law) is a jealous mistress and requires a long and constant courtship. It is not to be won by trifling favors, but by lavish homage (Joseph Story). It is imperative that we understand that common sense is not common and this is a fundamental problem of the human being. This can be traced back to the days of the kings. Saul was appointed the first king of Israel and although he reigned for thirty-two years, he was divinely terminated his second year on the throne because he disobeyed God. As 1 Samuel 15:23 declared, “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.” This indicates that King Saul was definitely aloof in regards to divine common sense as a leader because of his disobedience. 1 Samuel 16:1 says, “And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.” The Law of Divine Timing is the belief that everything in your life happens at exactly the right moment. Hence, Saul’s insubordination was a divine set-up to initiate David’s transition into position as the next king of Israel. This tells us that control is only an illusion, nothing just happens and there are no coincidences. God manipulates time, things and even people to ensure that His will is done! As Albert Einstein said, “Coincidences is God’s way of remaining anonymous.”

While a learned lady, in the person of Arinthia Komolafe may have disobeyed the law in not getting a permit to demonstrate, her infantile arrest, believe it or not my learned readers was an act of God! The Minister of National Security, as well as the Attorney General does not understand the divine, perpetual motion in this event. As I do believe they did not know prior to the arrest, I would give them the benefit of the doubt. It is, however, a strategic and powerful game changer! As the learned Attorney General can most certainly attest too. I can recollect that there was no more a vanguard of an individual that demonstrated against corruption as my learned Attorney General than Carl Bethel. Was it not you sir, as a young torchbearer that was arrested on Bay street by police in 1983 for refusing to move from the road in front of Parliament and thus obstructing traffic? Were you not then charged with unlawful assembly, obstructing and resisting arrest? I think a walk down memory lane my remind you of how you came to power as well. Yet, it never ceases to amaze me how quickly people forget. As Jack Kornfield said, “The knowledge of the past stays with us…” While the FNM may have had permits, the signs used to describe the Father of this great country were by far slanderous and unbecoming. In fact, the placards were so insulting that it was a good thing that Her Majesty did not see them during her tenure here. Moreover, the words used were without a doubt a form of defamation. Calling a man a “thief” and he was never charged before the courts, under the law, and I’m a learned in the law, its an offense. I remember participating in these derogatory acts, so in no way do I claim innocence.

With this in mind, let us look at my learned friend and brother Marvin Dames’ comment that “people are not obeying the law by getting a permit.” But what about the placards back in the day that explicitly exemplified criminal defamation of character? The implications of this are far reaching as any form of defamation of character is an offense. We did it! We participated for the cause! So, I say that to say, political propaganda is governed by common sense, not some form of scull duggery and agrievous intent with the aim of misleading the people. And Solomon made it very clear in Ecclesiastes 1:9 “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” We know our laws, the laws that God Himself gave us which is called the Ten Commandments. This was the first institution of the law and under the period commonly known as the Dispensation of Law. This dispensation lasted almost 1500 years and involved temple worship by the priest and further instructions by the prophets. Therefore, Mrs. Komolafe’s arrest made her a catalyst for change. In the case of Joseph, he was sold into slavery by his own brothers because of jealousy. He ended up working in Potiphar’s house the Captain of the guards. He was then accused of rape by Potiphar’s wife because he refused to sleep with her, was imprisoned for 17 years for a crime he did not commit. Here again exemplifying that there is nothing new under the sun. So, was the law just? No! But law had a divine purpose. Purpose is not about us but what we have been born to do and the lives we were meant to touch. Mrs. Komolafe’s arrest may have garnered a loud outcry and declared a miscarriage of justice, but in actuality, revealed God’s implied purpose for her and those she leads.

With this in mind let us then look at the reality in The Bahamas, in particular, the Prime Minister. Let us never forget this position, leader of the Oppositions or any position of leadership for that matter is divinely appointed by God. No leader in the world is elected because of his ego or because of his choice. It is an incredible feat that can only be achieved by God. God sets up leaders and takes them down. As God’s word is finite and the final authority, Daniel 2:21 says, “And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.” An individual can spread as much propaganda as one chooses, it neither moves or stops the hand of God. Moreover, let us not forget that God created the law as He Himself is a law-abiding God. One may think the laws are made and instituted by man, but historicity dictates otherwise. If one were to take a stroll down through the Dispensation of the Law you would see that Moses was instructed by God to record the Commandments as He gave them in Exodus 34:27–28. Can I submit to you then that all laws are divinely inspired and given by God? 2 Timothy 3:16–17 says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” The Ten Commandments are the fundamental laws of the foundation for all laws, including secular laws, are all governed by this foundation. God even has a purpose in allowing laws to be passed and legislated. Furthermore, God is not only a God of divine timing, but one of divine order. After the laws were written and disseminated amongst the people, Moses indicated to God that the work was too much for him to carry alone.

As a result, God then instructed him to set up a contingent of elders to help him govern the people. Numbers 11: 16–17 “And the Lord said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee. And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.” This body of men can be considered the modern-day Cabinet divinely appointed by God. Hence, one can then say that God gave the blueprint for how a Cabinet or governing body of people should be implemented. Moreover, it explicitly corroborates the old adage that no man is an island and leaders can neither lead nor govern by themselves.

Furthermore, whether one believes it or not, all of mankind, regardless of leadership style, doctrine or governing body, all follow God’s laws. It might be surprising to my learned readers, it may even discombobulate you to note that the law of Moses, which came from God Himself, is the template for the whole global community — that’s law 101! The Commandments was the first law and the original cabinet was when God appointed the elders. According to the dispensation of Law and comparatively today, Moses would be considered the first Chief Justice. He wrote, executed and interpreted the law that the world today abides by. Moreover, it was to prepare for the dispensation of the Judges and the Kings. Hence, I restate that I that the law is fundamental and from the time of Moses should be just! As John C. Maxwell said, “There are four possible outcomes to any action. The wrong action at the wrong time leads to disaster; the right action at the wrong time leads to resistance; the wrong action at the right time is a mistake, but the right action at the right time leads to success!” Let us now take a look at the story of Esther and the upcoming General Elections. Queen Vashti disobeyed the king so she was removed as queen and replaced by Esther. But who appointed Esther? None other than God Himself. Esther 2:17 “And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins, so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.” Donald Trump wanted to be President for another term and God said, ‘No!’ So, the Prime Minister can call election but it’s not him that makes that determination, rather it’s inspired by God. It is God who ultimately decides whether he should be placed in office another term or not. Therefore, all the innuendos, propaganda and whatever else may be placed out there is not the determining factor of the elections. One can even make reference to the former Prime Minister who stated that “not even God could stop him!” But he found out otherwise because he not only lost his seat, and his government! Luke 14:11, “For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”

In the age of the internet and social media there is much being said about this one or that. I’ve heard the crying by various people that they are being talked about and criticized across social media, crying like the weeping prophet Jeremiah. Well, let us not forget the prophet Elijah that had divine power that gave him the ability to literally pray and shut up the heavens that it did not rain for three years. “And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word” (1 Kings 17:1). All leaders of the world must understand and history has shown us the power that the men and women of God exuded. There were four major prophets: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekial and Daniel and twelve minor prophets. But the prophet the comes to mind is Elijah and the only reason he is not listed amongst the major prophets is because there was no book named after him. The defeat of President Trump was an Elijah “cut-ass!” Why one may ask and the answer would be because of the circumstances surrounding his great loss. I call to your attention that fact that Elijah called fire down from heaven. The four hundred and fifty prophets of Jezebel came up against one prophet of God, (see 1Kings 18”22–40). What I am trying to say my learned readers is that you can cry out as much as you want against wickedness, but with God in charge the game is over. As in the case of the four hundred and fifty prophets of Jezebel. Elijah eliminated all of the negative innuendos through the deaths of her false prophets.

As we say here in The Bahamas, “sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never harm me!” So please, the learned Opposition leaders and all other leaders for that matter, don’t worry about what is being said across social media, they are not in charge. If God wants you to be elected nothing can stop the divine will of God from being done. Case and point there has never been anyone more deceptive, cruel and wicked than Jezebel, yet she could not defeat God in the end. Moreover, they talked about Christ and even crucified Him. Trying to stop the naysayers is useless and only presents you in a weak light. They beat Him, imprisoned Him, put a crown of thorns on His head, yet He preserved. Nothing hindered Christ from His purpose or assignment so ‘take your lickings and keep on ticking.’ It’s all a part of the package as a leader. You cannot desire to be in forefront leadership and be afraid to be talked about, criticized and even rejected a times. A good example is President Biden. He had run for President more than once, rejected, but at the appointed time he became President. You must be willing to face adversity and stand in the face of those who oppose and say I am here to stay! As Myles Munroe said, “The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without a purpose!”

The most grievous woman, much worse than Jezebel I believe, attempted to ruin me, the students and my university, but look at what happened? We are 26,000 students strong today and we are all over the world? In fact, I daresay, her grievous act against me and my learned students not only made me wealthy, but very successful in business globally. “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive” (Gen. 50:20). All of us go through the process of struggles and we all have enemies. But God promised us that He would only allow our enemies to go so far before he intervenes on our behalf. So, yes I had enemies but they did not profit over me. They can only delay, but they cannot deny what God has for His people. I want my students to be very confident to know that they can delay you but cannot deny you God’s promises because at the end God will vindicate you. Always remember that the promises are God’s and purpose is how we live. If we live according to God’s purposes’ we will receive God’s promises.

Do not worry about the seeds of deceit, they will not last. “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD” (Isaiah 54:17). Focus on Elijah and how he overcame his enemy. In the case of former President Donald Trump, nobody put more garbage out there than about President Biden than Trump and in the end he got an Elijah “cut-ass,” and will never see governance again! God will without a doubt bring down anyone who raises or deify themselves above Him as in the case of the former Prime Minister of The Bahamas when he said “not even God could stop him.” He in turn not only lost his seat, but the General Elections and the respect of many that believed in him. Luke 14:11 says, “For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”

God will determine who wins the next General Elections. If I am to understand correctly the present Prime Minister is predicting that the FNM Party will win 35 seats in the next General Elections? The Prime Minister must be cognizant of the fact and keep in mind he is not God and cannot predict the future of any election in this or any other country! God is the God of The Chronos and Kairos time. Chronos time meaning time that it can be counted, as opposed to Kairos meaning time that has no beginning or ending and as such is eternal.

This in essence speaks clearly to the fact that God is the Alpha and the Omega and thus, supercedes time. As a matter of clarity, our present is God’s past because only He can move in and out of time. So, I have a question Honorable Prime Minister Minnis, when were given the power of being able to walk through time? I have searched out the gifts in 1 Corinthians 12 and nowhere does it state that God gives humans the ability to predict the future. Even the prophets can only see in part and prophesy in part. So, I again ask you dear sir, what qualifies one to attain such a gifting and is it only for you? Even Enoch, who lived during the Antediluvian dispensation, never saw death and talked to God for 365 years never had this gift! As one of the most profound minds of the century, Albert Einstein said, “I prefer an attitude of humility corresponding to the weakness of our intellectual understanding of nature and of our own being.” Could it then be said that humility should be the order of the day? Let us then be clear, no leader can predict an election and trying to is blasphemous in nature.

So, Mr. Prime Minister can I submit to you that you should not let your ego run ahead of you as doing so takes the place of where God should reside in our lives! Your masturbation of ego will definitely ensure that you will not be re-elected as Prime Minister if you continue in this vain as God does not take kindly to anyone that has an inflated and bombastic ego! Only the barefoot Prime Minister, which you are, can win re-election. Do not forget your predecessor the former Prime Minister and remember the post is only for a season. Trump tried to stage a coup in his bid to maintain his position and it did not serve him well in the end. God used a Jew and black man from the red next state of Georgia to prove He has the ultimate say. It could have only been an act of divinity to have two unlikely people come together and cause the most significant defeat of any U.S. President to date! Isaiah 2:12 is a clear warning to us all, leader or not: “For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low.” Hence, the reality of who is in control is clearly seen in the fall of President Trump.

In conclusion, in the grand scheme of things, man is irrelevant in contrast to God, the creator. This article was simply an attempt to enlighten my learned readers about the fact that God has the final say, He is the ultimate authority on all things in heaven and in earth. The question I would leave with you is do our government in The Bahamas recognize the hand of our Almighty God? Do they comprehend how God’s hands move? The move in Georgia is a clear sign of the hand of God. Whatever Biden does, will help us because we are often affected by exogenesis factors. We originate nothing. So, let us understand Bahamains that God showed us His incredible hand in Georgia and in Washington and we must understand that it was the spirit of Elijah against Jezebel. So, let us not forget the FNM Party and how they achieved governance. They didn’t sit down, they demonstrated, and some did not even have damn permits! How quickly we forget! There are no winners in the battle of the arrest of Mrs. Komolafe. But I do know that her arrest was a divine act of God and put her on steroids for becoming even greater than she was before, as I said “a game changer!” Only God has the last say as to what happens to her. You cannot intimidate or put fear in God’s people. Yes, there are wicked people but they do not have the last say! “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. “ (Psalm 37:1–2.)
